Wednesday Update

October 20, 2010

Sorry for the long silence. I’ve been packing, and packing, and packing. Today is the day. We’re loading the truck and heading for Houston, Texas. I’m going to be on the road and impossible to reach for the next four days. After that, I’ll unpack. By Monday, I should be set up in my new office and starting to rev on the business of agenting. Thanks for all your patience.

Tuesday Update

October 12, 2010

I’m packed except for clothes, food, and spices. The truck is coming for the local stuff today. A couple of people are getting furniture from me, so we’ll move that to their to their houses, and I’m storing a lot of my antiques and furniture in a local store-room.

I’m getting there.

Best,

Denise

Friday Update

October 8, 2010

I haven’t checked email in two days. I’m behind on everything. 1600 messages in my email are waiting.

But we’re almost packed.

I’ve got a few dishes we’re using, the clothes, and the stuff in the basement and garage left to go through.

It’s getting doable.

Another week or 10 days and my life will be sane again.

Then I can be a full-time agent instead of a stevedore.

Looking forward to it.

Wednesday Update

October 6, 2010

Well, it’s the 6th,

And I’m still packing and still reading.

I HAVE NOT started sending out responses.

I did finally finish packing all the dishes and most of the books. Of the house’s 16 rooms, 7 are completely empty.

I still have the bedrooms, the basement and the garage to do.

The movers come on October 12. I should be in Houston on October 16.

I’m still reading late into the night after spending all day packing.

I’m really tired and cranky, so I decided to wait on sending out responses, because tired and cranky can interfere with good decisions.

For all of you joking about me learning Sanskrit, I was an English, Chemistry Classics major in college. I’ve already learned Sanskrit once, and completely forgotten it. Also Ancient Greek, Classical and Vulgar Latin, and Spanish. The Latin and the Spanish, I can kinda sorta remember after a week or two of hearing them a lot. I was really fluent in those at one time in my life, so they stuck better.

I’m working my way through the submissions. I’ll get to the bottom of the pile as soon as I can.

And I’ll send out responses when I’m rested, well-fed, and happy.
Because you deserve that.

Monday Update

October 4, 2010

Well, things are going slowly here in Wisconsin at Casa Denise. The packing is going well. It’s the sorting that
is making me crazy. The local charities have been having a field day with my leftovers. But it’s all taking forever.

Nobody can sort but me, so even though I have lots of help with the packing, I’m running from room to room making decisions.

As a consequence, I’m behind.

I have 1156 emails this morning–I haven’t checked them all weekend because I took it off to pack.

If you haven’t heard from me, don’t panic.

I’m just behind and crazed.

I’ve slotted time to catch up tonight, late.

So expect answers then.

Denise

Current again!

September 29, 2010

As of 7 PM CST today, I am current on my email. I should have replied to you if you queried me, or if you sent a manuscript, I should have sent an email to tell you it arrived.

I am not current on reading manuscripts.

I’m reading, but this will take me a while.

Lots od good things in the pile.

I’m enjoying the search.

The move, on the other hand, is eating my lunch.

Daily Update

September 24, 2010

I’m caught up on queries again. If you’ve sent a query or a manuscript, I’ve replied and acknowledged reciept of it.

If you haven’t heard from me, resend.

About the move. I’m packing in earnest now. There’s a dumpster arriving tomorrow morning, and I’m renting a truck on Monday so I can put stuff in storage. I’m moving from a big Victorian into two rooms, so this is going to be insane.

If I sound crazy in the next few days, just wait me out.

I’ll be handling emails in the middle of the night after packing. The typos will be intense. Forgive me. I figure you’d rather get emails in the middle of the night and misspelled than not at all.
